TNM Supplement: A Commentary on Uniform Use, Fourth Edition, is a companion book to the Union for International Cancer Control`s (UICC) TNM Classification of Malignant Tumours, Seventh Edition. The TNM (tumour-node-metastasis) cancer classification and staging system is the most widely used means in the world to describe the progression of cancer and to indicate prognosis. The UICC`s TNM Supplement updates and expands the TNM Classification, providing explanatory notes and definitions that clarify the use and meaning of the TNM cancer staging system. The TNM Supplement, Fourth Edition, includes new, detailed definitions of anatomical sites, regional lymph nodes, and TNM categories. It answers questions that frequently arise during daily use of the TNM system. Importantly, the TNM Supplement expands on the minimum requirements for pathological classification of individal tumour sites and enumerates the recommended criteria for each.
