Democratic Praxis in Slovenia EN Book: Democratic Praxis in Slovenia EN
4 stars - 1
We were motivated to write this book by the recognition that these days there are more calls for research to examine the actual behaviour of democratic institutions of state regulation, to ascertain their relationship and openness to citizens and their initiatives and check the possibilities of civil society forming policies. The book presents to the local and especially foreign publics some of Slovenia’s constitutional regulation, as well as the organisation and actions of Slovenian authority. We are aware it is hard to consider all aspects involved, but at the same time we wanted to consider as many factors of democracy realisation in Slovenia as possible. We sought answers to different questions, for instance the question of the extent to which Slovenia has managed to approach the ideal model of democratic regulation (as defined in the Slovenian constitutional regulations) since its independence. The description of the country’s democratic development highlights the weak points or democratic deficit and considers the possibilities of future development. We applied different methods when dealing with the mentioned subject among which transitional, modernisation and structural methods are worth mentioning. As mentioned, the book is intended for the local and foreign publics and the authors hope it will stir up interest in Slovenia.
